We are pleased to present the BGPD Schedule of Classes for Fall 2019. With over 34 high-quality courses to choose from, there are diverse professional development opportunities to meet a variety of learning needs. Just like last year, courses are organized into six, color coded categories: We offer multiple classes in each category to help you meet Washington certification renewal requirements (15 STEM clock hours). Please note, OSPI no longer requires TPEP clock hours for certificate renewal, however we continue to offer classes in this category to support effective instruction and provide relevant courses for teacher evaluation. In addition, OSPI has reduced the minimum time a clock hour course can be offered from three hours to one hour. Last spring, we started the BGPD program with hopes of shifting professional development opportunities outside of the school day to minimize the impact of substitute shortages to our district. This proved to be a resounding success. Registration rates for spring 2019 courses were at or near capacity! Your strong response to the BGPD program is evident of your commitment to continually grow as an educator. WHAT'S NEW In order to improve the BGPD compensation process, PLD payouts will now occur semi-annually (February and July). This will significantly streamline the process. More information can be found in the Certificated Compensation section of the Schedule of Classes. This three-hour innovative webinar builds upon our existing BGPD course "Understanding ACEs and Trauma-Informed Practices" and delves deeper into the science of trauma and its impacts on the classroom. Concordia is a national leader in this topic and is the only university to offer a MEd in Curriculum & Instruction: Trauma & Resilience in Educational Settings. Visit bit.ly/bgps-cup to learn more about the program. You can find more information about this course in the SEL section of the catalog. Courses in the BGPD Fall 2019 Schedule of Classes run from mid-September through early December. All classes will take place at the Lewisville Campus or the CASEE A Staff Development Room. A new suite of PD courses will be unveiled in our BGPD Spring 2020 Schedule of Classes (released after winter break). Let us begin a new year of learning together! With much respect, David Kennedy Director of Professional Learning
