36 Battle Ground Public Schools High School Course Guide 2020-21 Ceramics Lab Assistant Course Code: ELE034/ELE234 State Code: 05995 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 11-12th Length: Semester or Year-long Credit: 0.5 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Ceramics I & II, Instructor Permission Graduation Requirement: Elective Course Designation: Student will perform all duties for effective studio man- agement: reclaim clay, manage glaze inventory, load and unload bisque and glaze kilns. The assistant will recognize what needs to be done in pottery and prioritize daily and weekly chores. Can be taken for a semester or Year-long. Clothing Construction and Design I Course Code: HEC022 State Code: 19204 Schools: BGHS, SVHS, (RHL, year-long) Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: CADR Construction, manipulation and design are used to create a variety of items with various forms of textiles. The begin- ning student will learn basic sewing techniques and use them as they construct a simple garment and other textile projects. The principles and elements of design will be taught along with color theory and fiber identification and care. The ad- vanced student may move on to more detailed garments and exploration of designing their own pattern, with a unit on entrepreneurship, including marketing, advertising and finance, as would be needed for operation of a small, home-based business. The students will construct gar- ments and other projects with an emphasis on the quality needed for a retail product. Crafts I Course Code: ART019 State Code: 05165 Schools: SVHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Elective Course Designation: Not a CADR Students will be required to design and construct their own projects. Scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, drawing and painting, clay, jewelry making, landscaping, and woodworking are possible choice projects. Students bring their completed projects to school. Alternatively, they can bring a picture of larger projects. Written project summaries are also required.
