Composition, experimentation, art criticism and art history will also be explored. A research project will be required. Aesthetics, art history, and art criticism will also be explored. All students will compile a portfolio of artwork which demonstrates the understanding of the elements and principles of design; the ability to select, interpret, and explore a theme; and the rigorous creation of quality artwork. The portfolio will demonstrate the student's understanding of the elements and principles of design, the ability to interpret and ex- plore a theme, and the creation of quality works. Introduction to Engineering Design Course Code: VTI059/VTI259 State Code: 21004 Schools: PHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: None, May not count for fine art for college entrance, see counselor. Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) is a course which develops problem-solving skills by means of a design process. Students will work from sketching simple geometric shapes to applying a solid modeling computer software package. The techniques learned and equipment used is state-of-the-art and are currently used by engineers throughout the United States. The course further develops the student's problem solving skills using the design process and how it is used to manufacture a product. The computer-aided design system (CADD) will also be used to analyze and evaluate the product design to produce presentation drawings. Leadership and team-building activities are emphasized. Students have an opportunity to participate in Skills USA, TSA, or related student leadership organizations. Floral Design I Course Code: AGR005 State Code: 18999 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: Skills and knowledge in floral design, techniques and principles are taught as well as background on retail floral industry. Students will create a portfolio which showcases the skills mastered. Hands-on skills will include line/mass arrangements, single wraps, balloons, boutonnieres and corsages.
