Emphasis on design, aesthetics and art criticism will be included. PHOTOGRAPHY Photo I Course Code: VTI054 State Code: 11052 Schools: BGHS Only Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: CADR Students will learn the basics of photography using 35mm SLR cameras and black and white film. This project-based class evaluates student participation and performance. Light exposure, camera operation, and compositional elements are emphasized. Photo II Course Code: VTI056 State Code: 11052 Schools: BGHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: Photo I Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: CADR Students will work toward developing a professional quality portfolio through the exploration of photographic themes like: Portraiture, Landscape, and Commercial Advertising. Students will expand their camera knowledge using 35mm SLR's as well as larger file formats. Students will also learn advanced darkroom printing processes and studio lighting. Digital Photo I Course Code: VTI063 State Code: 11052 Schools: BGHS, PHS, RHL, SVHS, CAM Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: CADR The digital photography class will emphasize the use of digital SLR cameras to create digital images. The class will learn about the various parts of the camera and how those parts affect the image's outcome. Students will learn about how shutter speeds and apertures control the amount of light that creates the image. Students will become familiar with shutter speeds to control how action is depicted in the image. Depth of field will be explored using the aperture to control it. Students will learn more about Photoshop with special emphasis on improving photographs. Advance training in Photoshop techniques with emphasis on combining images will be taught in the class as well. Digital Photo II Course Code: VTI263 State Code: 05167 Schools: BGHS, PHS, CAM, SVHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: Digital Photo I Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: CADR This class will explore the ways that digital photography is used in various photography careers. Portraiture, product photography, graphic arts, and publishing will be some of the areas explored. Students will learn about studio lighting for portrait and products. Students will work with advanced digital cameras to support the development of a professional quality portfolio. Students will learn more Photoshop techniques as well as multiple software applications that will be emphasized. AP Photo Course Code: ART030/230 State Code: 05174 Schools: BGHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Yes, AP portfolio submission fee Prerequisite: Photo I & II Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Occupational Course Designation: AP Course and CADR Students will apply the skills and techniques learned in Photo I & II or Digital Photo I & II to create a 2-D Design Portfolio. The portfolio will demonstrate the student's understanding of the principles and elements of design, ability to interpret and explore a theme, and generate quality works.
