43 Battle Ground Public Schools High School Course Guide 2020-21 43 Battle Ground Public Schools High School Course Guide 2020-21 DRAMA Theatre I Course Code: ELE008 State Code: 05055 Schools: RHL only Grades: 9-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art Course Designation: CADR This is a year-long beginning level theatre class designed to fulfill the theatre Fine Arts learning standards for grades 9-12. Students learn theatre skills, i.e.: projection, memorization, stage direction, characterization, directing, script writing, critique and performance. Using theatre games, monologues, scene work and performances, students hone stage presence and acting skills. Videography will be required for critique, analysis and self-reflection. Theatre II Course Code: ELE013 State Code: 05055 Schools: RHL only Grades: 10-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Prerequisite: Theatre I Graduation Requirement: Fine Art Course Designation: CADR This is a year-long performance theatre class. Students will be expected to stay after school for rehearsal approx- imately 15 days leading up to a performance. This may vary some depending on the show. Students will perform two shows a year. Students must have transportation to either Prairie or Battle Ground High School for one week prior to the performance. Students will learn all aspects of production while fulfilling the theatre Fine Arts learning standards for grades 9-12: projection, memorization, stage direction, characterization, directing, and performance. Videography will be required for critique, analysis, and self-reflection. Auditorium Tech Course Code: ELE014 State Code: 05056 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Yes Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Elective Course Designation: CADR Students will be introduced to and develop production skills necessary to work in a professional theatre or auditorium. Students will work in a lighting, sound, or other production capacity for BGHS/PHS plays and concerts as part of their assessment. They may also have the opportunity to be hired in a production capacity by outside groups who rent the auditorium. Theatre Tech Course Code: ELE031 State Code: 05056 Schools: RHL Only Grades: 9-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Fine Art or Elective Course Designation: CADR Students will be required to stay after school for rehearsals approximately 15 days before a performance. There will be two performances per year. Students will construct props, programs, and costuming at home depending on the show.
