Students learn theatre skills, i.e.: projection, memorization, stage direction, characterization, directing, script writing, critique and performance. Using theatre games, monologues, scene work and performances, students hone stage presence and acting skills. Videography will be required for critique, analysis and self-reflection. Students will be expected to stay after school for rehearsal approx- imately 15 days leading up to a performance. This may vary some depending on the show. Students will perform two shows a year. Students must have transportation to either Prairie or Battle Ground High School for one week prior to the performance. Students will learn all aspects of production while fulfilling the theatre Fine Arts learning standards for grades 9-12: projection, memorization, stage direction, characterization, directing, and performance. Students will work in a lighting, sound, or other production capacity for BGHS/PHS plays and concerts as part of their assessment. They may also have the opportunity to be hired in a production capacity by outside groups who rent the auditorium.
