Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Students must have taken Algebra 1 Graduation Requirement: Lab Science Course Designation: CADR Physical Science is a lab class that engages students in the four big ideas of the NGSS physical sciences. What is everything made of? (Chemistry) How do forces cause motion or stability? (Physics) What is energy? (chemistry & physics) How is wave energy used to transfer information? (technology) Students will use the practices of scientists to conduct investigations that help them build under- standing around these four big ideas. This is one of three courses that can be taken in any order to prepare students for the state science exam in 11th grade. Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Students must have taken Algebra II or be taking concurrently Graduation Requirement: Lab Science Course Designation: CADR and Quantitative Physics is a college prep lab class that engages students in the three big ideas of the NGSS physical sciences. (Astronomy & Technology) Students will use the practices of scientists to conduct investigations that help them build understanding around these big ideas. Science Lab Tech Assistant Course Code: ELE036/ELE236 State Code: 03995 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 11-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Academic strength in science, interview with science teacher, signature of department chair. Graduation Requirement: Elective Course Designation: Science lab tech assistant is a graded class in which the student will assist teachers and science technicians in the daily routines of preparing for science class and labs. The student should have a strong back- ground in the science field. The student may be asked to: assist in preparing lab materials; set up, break down, and clean up lab equipment; gather and enter data for the department inventory; maintain organization in the lab and prep rooms; maintain animal cages and aquariums; culture microorganisms; and assist in various lab and class activities. The science lab tech assistant could also tutor students in learning science principals through individual- ized instruction and lab assistance. ONLINE SCIENCE COURSES. Battle Ground Online is an opportunity for students to complete Science classes in Biology, Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics. All coursework is online and completed both during a class period at school and/or at home. However, all tests must be taken at school with teacher supervision. Students will be scheduled into a class period during the school day and attendance will be taken. An online orientation and parent permission must be completed by May 1st for students forecasting in the spring and prior to the beginning of the semester for other students.
