It is team taught by the PE and Consumer Sciences departments. Students will participate in a variety of fitness games and activities. They will evaluate their eating habits and will set goals to improve. They will also analyze food labels, types of fast food and nutritional content. Some classroom topics include: fad diets, healthy eating habits, body image, and nutrition. Fitness conditioning will focus on increases in strength & circuit training, endurance, plyometrics, and understanding of training philosophies. Intensity of effort and self-motivation are required. Students will learn, demonstrate, and develop individual, as well as team skills for competition. The class will incorporate Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Step Aerobics, Tae-Bo, Exercise Ball Routines, Basic Condi- tioning, and more! The course is designed to show students activities that can be performed in the comfort of their own home, some for as little as 10 minutes a day, in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
