72 Battle Ground Public Schools High School Course Guide 2020-21 High School Course Descriptions PE AFJROTC Health and Aviation History Course Code: VTI070 State Code: 08051 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 9-10th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Health or Occupational Course Designation: Suggested 9th grade course This course provides both health and leadership principles credit with a wellness program that includes condition- ing, fitness principles, social skills, nutrition, goal setting, health risks, prevention of disease, stress management, human growth and development and first aid. This is the first semester course taken with A Journey Into Aviation History second semester. Leadership instruction stresses citizenship, military tradition, uniform wear, basic drill skills as well as study habits and time management. Students are required to wear an Air Force furnished uniform one day per week. This course must be taken with the second semester Health and Aviation History that covers a Social Studies credit. Family Health with Comprehensive Sexual Education Course Code: HEC013 State Code: 16054 Schools: BGHS, PHS, SVHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Health and Occupational Course Designation: Suggested 9th grade course Topics covered will include nutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases, decision making and social skills to protect health and safety. Students will learn about environmental conditions that affect human growth and development. They will analyze health information and evaluate current health status and set health goals. Instruction of first aid including CPR and the use of AED will be included. First aid, including the instruction of CPR and AEDs will be taught. This course includes the state health Classroom Based Assessment.
