With a combination of classroom activities, student projects and laboratory exercises, students will explore the animal in- dustry. Topics will include veterinary practices, leadership, careers in the industry, facilities and equipment, market- ing, genetics, breeding, and anatomy. Advanced Horticulture Course Code: AGR028/228 State Code: 18052 Schools: BGHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: Agricultural Science Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: Advanced Horticulture is a work-based class for students who are ready to roll up their sleeves and make things hap- pen. Students will order horticultural supplies, repair equip- ment, install landscapes, grow plants and help manage the greenhouse business at BGHS. Students routinely use hand power tools, tillers, mowers, and pruning tools in this class. Greenhouse Management Course Code: AGR003/203 State Code: 18052 Schools: PHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Semester or Year-long Credit: 0.5 1 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: Horticulture Lab Science Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: This class is for the student interested in pursuing a technical career in the horticulture industry. Students will develop skills in greenhouse and nursery management and plant production. Students will determine individual projects each semester they take this course. This is also for students wishing to pursue topics in plant research. History of Rock and Roll Course Code: ELS006 State Code: 22997 Schools: SVHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: No Prerequisite: English I Graduation Requirement: Elective Course Designation: These courses cover particular topics in humanities such as the interrelationships among painting, sculpture, archi- tecture, and music or the exploration of a particular time period rather than provide a general overview of the subject. AUTO TECHNOLOGY Auto Technology I Course Code: VTI008 State Code: 20103 Schools: BGHS, PHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective, Science Lab Course Designation: Science Lab Auto I covers: Automotive fasteners, hand tools com- monly used in automotive repair. Safety is covered and stressed throughout the course. Wheels/tires, disc and drum brakes, along with the machines to change and balance tires, changing engine oil and filter, and perform- ing maintenance checks is also included. The course is a combination of classroom exposure followed by hands-on experience in the shop environment. **Students who take this course and want to take a full year of auto can also take Auto Technology II (VTI231). ***Students who feel they have prior experience and knowledge may be able to move directly to Auto Technology II—please contact the instructor. Students that take Auto I and Auto II can get a third year science credit.
