Instruction includes the software design process, the Java programming language, data management, ancillary software, and software testing, troubleshooting, and debugging. The course is struc- tured to be run as a small software company employing as many of the same methods, practices, and tools as are commonly used in industry. FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES Family Psychology Course Code: HEC012 State Code: 04254 Schools: BGHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Fee Required Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: CADR Psychology with the emphasis on the family. We will cover: Understanding why we act the way we do, how to have successful relationships, balancing the family with work, and making wise decisions in a variety of situations. This class is designed to meet the needs of the students who are enrolled in it. Child Development I Course Code: HEC017 State Code: 19051 Schools: BGHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: CTE Dual Credit This one semester course is a prerequisite for Child Devel- opment II (Older Younger Program) or can be taken on it's own. The class focuses on the principles of child devel- opment with emphasis on early childhood education. Students will learn how children develop physically, intel- lectually, socially, and emotionally at each stage. Students will also explore best practices for working with children. This is an important class for future Older Younger Program students to build a base of knowledge they will use when working with children. Students that complete and meet requirements of Child Development I & II have the opportu- nity to receive dual credit to Clark College in Early Childhood Education, and initial childcare certification in Washington. Child Development II / Older Younger Program Course Code: HEC009 State Code: 19051 Schools: BGHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Fee Required Prerequisite: Child Development I - Must be taken with Older/Younger Semester 2 Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: CTE Dual Credit Working hands-on with kindergarteners, several days a week, you will be a mentor to a child and discover how chil- dren learn. In this class you will gain skills and confidence that will benefit you in the future as a teacher, parent, or child care worker of any kind. Initial child care certification will be received by students who successfully complete all 10 Child Care Basics Modules. Modules 1-5 will be covered during fall semester. This certification is required for all daycare and childcare workers in the state of Washington. (TechPrep college credit through Clark College also avail- able for students that meet requirements.) Older Younger is a year-long course; if you take this class you must also take HEC209-Older/Younger Program Semester 2.
