Students cultivate their under- standing of coding through analyzing, writing, and testing code as they explore concepts like modularity, variables, and control structures. Digital Communications Course Code: BUS001 State Code: 11002 Schools: BGHS, PHS, RHL, SVHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Semester Credit: 0.5 Course Fee: Fee Required Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: Learn a variety of input capabilities, including: digital cameras, scanners as well as the traditional keyboard and mouse. Using Office 2013 students will work with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, web page design and desktop publishing software to prepare documents, including: letters, reports, tables, resumes, spreadsheet and graphs, fliers, PowerPoint presentations and a basic web page. Students will also learn basic com- puter vocabulary and internet usages, along with Cyber Safety and Security. When students finish this course, they will have the skills needed to complete assignments in high school, college, or for entry level employment. Financial Operations iQ Credit Union Course Code: BUS012/BUS212 State Code: 12103 Schools: BGHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Passed or currently taking Accounting I & II, Application. Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: Learn the skills necessary to manage a branch office of iQ Credit Union on campus at BGHS. Students work to job descriptions in the daily operation of the Business. They use financial management software to complete members' financial transactions or requests for services. Students who complete this training will have the skills necessary for entry level employment in any bank or credit union. To be accepted into the class a student must be responsible, able to work as part of a team, and have an excellent attendance record. Introduction to Marketing Course Code: BUS030/BUS230 State Code: 12164 Schools: BGHS, PHS, RHL Grades: 9-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Fee Required Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: This course is a must for students who would like to have a career in retailing, own their own business, be part of a management team, or study any area of business in col- lege. Students will study how supply and demand interact to set prices, how to reach potential customers, effective management techniques, sales processes for retail and industrial markets, and the risks, rewards, advantages and disadvantages of owning your own business. Students have the opportunity to practice real life marketing skills and travel through their participation in DECA and field trips to a local mall and advertising agency. A co-curricular club, DECA, is available. DECA, a student marketing orga- nization, provides a variety of additional learning opportu- nities, such as conferences and competitions. Students will develop advanced marketing skills that enable them to fur- ther their marketing skills. Entrepreneurship and Sports and Entertainment Marketing are offered in alternating years. Teamwork and leadership are integrated into this course through the creative completion of many promotional activities.
