Welding Projects Course Codes: AGR014/AGR214(2 Period Block); VTI052/VTI252(1 Period) State Code: 13207 Schools: BGHS Grades: 11-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: Welding Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: CTE Dual Credit Semester 1: Students will learn safe welding and shop practices. Students will learn Gas Metal Arc welding, out of position Shield Metal Arc Welding, Advanced cutting prac- tices, Intro to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. Leadership com- ponent is required. Semester 2: Students will learn safe welding and shop practices. Students will plan, lay out and build complex projects. Welding skills toward certification for SMAW, GMAW, GTAW. Machining with lathe and milling tools are also important elements of project construction. Leadership component is required. Introduction to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programming/Machining Course Code: VTI087/VTI287 State Code: 13203 Schools: PHS Grades: 10-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: Fee required Prerequisite: Intro to Machine/Welding Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: Students will become acquainted with the language used to program CNC milling machining centers commonly used in manufacturing facilities. Students learn to write and edit programs written in Fanuc G and M codes, calculate spindle speed and feed rates for specific tooling and cut- ting operations, and manufacture parts using a Computer Controlled Machining Center. Students will also use indus- try standard Computer Aided Machining (CAM) software to write CNC programs for both 2-dimensional and 3-dimen- sional parts. This course will work in conjunction with the CADD Projects courses to design and manufacture prod- ucts of interest to the students. AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC Survival Course Code: VTI025/VTI225 State Code: 09999 Schools: PHS Grades: 9-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: The JROTC Survival class is a unique course that offers hands on training in a wide variety of activities. This class prepares the students for leadership roles, critical situation communication, decision making, and surviving in adverse conditions. The students will participate in field activities and may have opportunities for specialized training in cooperation with the Air National Guard. The course blends basic knowledge of nutrition, physical exercise, fitness, and first aid with leadership principals, identifying conflict, problems solving, and adaptive leadership. Students are required to wear an Air Force-furnished uniform and partic- ipate in physical fitness activities one day per week. Management of the Cadet Corps Course Code: VTI177/VTI277 State Code: 09004 Schools: PHS Grades: 12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: None Graduation Requirement: Occupational or Elective Course Designation: This occupational course focuses on the AFJROTC mission to "develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." This hands-on experience affords the cadets the opportunity to put the theories of previous leadership courses into practice. All the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling, and decision-making will be done by cadets. They practice their communication, deci- sion-making, personal-interaction, managerial, and organiza- tional skills. Students will work on AF JROTC projects that are related to the cadet corps and functions of the cadet corps.
