Topics covered include: credit cards, loans, buying a car, housing costs, insurance, and investments, with the Math skills needed in each area. May be taken independently of Personal Finance I. Can be taken as a semester or a Year-long course combined with Personal Finance I. Does not meet NCAA eligibility. Statistics Course Code: MTH034/MTH234 State Code: 02201 Schools: BGHS Grades: 11-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Geometry Graduation Requirement: Math Course Designation: Quantitative, CADR This is a basic statistics course designed to introduce students to the major concepts involved in collecting and analyzing data. Topics covered include probability, graph- ing data, creating experiments, and proper procedures in collecting data. Students will utilize data from everyday life and build an understanding of the meaning of numbers given on in newspapers and magazines and on television. Honors Statistics Course Code: MTH037/MTH237 State Code: 02201 Schools: CAM Grades: 11-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: None Prerequisite: Algebra II Graduation Requirement: Math Course Designation: Honors—Quantitative, CADR In this course, students develop strategies for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students design, administer, and tabulate results from surveys and experiments. Probability and simulations aid students in constructing models for chance behavior. Sampling distributions provide the logical structure for confidence intervals and hypothesis tests. AP Statistics Course Code: MTH043/MTH243 State Code: 02203 Schools: BGHS, PHS, CAM Grades: 11-12th Length: Year-long Credit: 1 Course Fee: AP Exam Fee (Optional) Prerequisite: Algebra II Graduation Requirement: Math Course Designation: AP Course—Quantitative, CADR Advanced Placement Statistics is a college-level statistics course. Students will study four areas of statistics. The areas are exploring data, planning studies, anticipating patterns, and statistical inference. Students will be collect- ing, organizing, and analyzing their own data. This course is especially beneficial to those students planning on majoring in the social sciences, health sciences, business, and education, since a statistics course is usually required in these disciplines. Students who pass the AP exam will be eligible for college credit. ONLINE MATH COURSES. Battle Ground Online Learning is an opportunity for students to complete Math classes (Algebra & Ge- ometry). All coursework is online and completed both during a class period at school and/or at home. However, all tests must be taken at school with teacher supervision. Students will be scheduled into a class period during the school day and attendance will be taken. An online orien- tation and parent permission must be completed by May 1st for students forecasting in the spring and prior to the beginning of the semester for other students.
