2014–15 ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT | 11 Security Facts Meet the district's new security manager, Mike Kesler. Mike comes to the district aer 25 years working for Washington State Patrol and 6 years managing security at the Port of Vancouver. Mike's diverse background and years of experience has allowed positive growth in district security, including regular administrator trainings for the national Incident Command System in partnership with CRESA, as well as new equipment for high school security staff. Mike's team includes all high school security staff members and district crossing guards. Powered by Google Battle Ground Public Schools is leading the way with technology in the classroom. Using the full Google suite, including Google Apps for Education, Google websites and Google Classroom, BGPS' teachers are integrating the power of technology into everyday instruction, and it is just the beginning. Over the past four years, the district's technology department has developed a comprehensive technology plan that includes infrastructure upgrades, new hardware such as the addition of 2,400 Chromebooks for students, iPads for teachers and extensive training programs. e BGPS Tech Training program offers teachers 15 courses, from digital writing and math to managing a digital classroom. e program also offers specialized classes and one-on-one sessions to support staff with the use of technology in and out of the classroom. Each building also has an Academy Member who provides additional in-building professional development on classroom technology. Academy members are teachers who take additional training in order to support their peers with classroom technology.
