The $80 million bond (Phase 1 of the Long-Range Facilities Plan) includes: FOUR REPLACEMENT SCHOOLS Glenwood Heights Primary, Laurin Middle, Pleasant Valley Primary and Middle TWO NEW SCHOOLS Construction of new K-4 and 5-8 schools in the southeast corner of the district to address overcrowding and enrollment growth BOND PROJECTS ESTIMATED PROJECT COSTS REPLACEMENT & RENOVATION; NEW FACILITIES $123.5 million Build six schools (four replacements and two new schools), replace select buildings at Prairie, renovate the Amboy 300 building, replace operations building, and construct a modular at Prairie to accommodate growth IMPROVE STUDENT SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY $6.2 million Upgrade district network to improve capacity, speed and security; upgrade school main entrances with card reader access; update door locks to lock from inside; additional perimeter fencing at Prairie EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENTS; CAPITAL RENEWAL PROJECTS $4.0 million Expand middle school STEM opportunities; upgrade Career and Technical Education classrooms; update classrooms and common spaces for innovative programs; and replace flooring at Prairie, Battle Ground, Yacolt, Maple Grove and CASEE Center ENHANCE STUDENT RECREATION $2.8 million Build covered play areas at Maple Grove, Yacolt, and Amboy; upgrade Amboy gym; add covered bleachers to Prairie's track and field; and replace turf and upgrade seating at District Stadium Subtotal $136.5 million* Less State Match ($56.5 million) TOTAL DISTRICT BOND COST $80.0 million OUTDATED BUILDING REPLACEMENTS The replacement of Prairie High School 500-900 buildings and the renovation of Amboy Middle's gym and 300 building MULTIPLE IMPROVEMENTS ACROSS THE DISTRICT Safety, technology, educational, infrastructure, and athletic improvements throughout the district, including updating door locks and main entrances at some schools to improve student and staff safety *While the recommended bond proposal totals $136.5 million, the district could receive up to $56.5 million in state funding assistance for eligible projects.
