4 | BATTLE GROUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS Battle Ground Public Schools implemented full-day kindergarten at all schools that serve primary students. Students build a solid foundation in math and reading skills, but also spend time on science, art, music, physical education, health and developmentally appropriate life skills. Battle Ground Public Schools piloted a 1:1 (one-to-one) computing initiative this year in seventh grade at three middle schools. Eventually, through a phased rollout, every student in grades 3-12 will be assigned a Chromebook for use at school and at home. This year, some parents shadowed their primary students in our learning intervention programs for reading, math, and English as a Second Language (ESL) so they could better understand what intervention supports look like and learn some key strategies for use at home. Research has shown that student progress can occur at a faster pace when parents engage in their students' learning. Battle Ground High School is ranked among the state's best schools in US News & World Report's 2017 Best High Schools. Battle Ground ranked 53rd in Washington state and received a Bronze Medal rating for public high schools evaluated nationwide based on state assessments, graduation rates and college readiness.
